Wealth Rating and Renown

City Wealth

As Vareholm grows so does its economy, which attracts new settlers and businesses. The Wealth Rating of Vareholm determines the maximum value of goods and services a player can purchase. Vareholm’s base wealth rating is 100, which means only items that are valued at 100 gold or less are available for purchase (i.e. a 400g Breastplate is not available at a wealth level of 100, but 75g Chainmail is). As Vareholm’s wealth rating increases, it allows players to spend more gold at a time.
  • Note, that you must also have stores that are of sufficient CP value in order to utilize the wealth rating of the city. You can read about stores here.
  • Vareholm’s wealth rating automatically increases as players construct new buildings and improve existing ones. The total CP of all buildings in Vareholm, fully constructed or not, are added to a pool. That pool determines the amount of gold added to Vareholm’s wealth rating at a 4:1 ratio, or CP/4.   Ex: Mona and Eldin construct a brothel. The brothel is currently worth 200 CP. 200 divided by 4 is 50, so 50 gold is added to Vareholm’s wealth score for a total score of 150.

    Renown

Increasing the wealth rating of Vareholm also increases the Renown of the city which begins to attract more experienced and seasoned adventurers.   For players that have already played one or more characters in the East Marches, Vareholm’s Wealth Rating(WR) increases the possible base level for those players’ new characters. New players coming into the game will always start at level one for their first character.   When a player character dies, the player’s new character will come into play at either 2 levels under their last character’s level (minimum 1) OR come in at the base allowed level provided by the city’s wealth rating. The lowest level out of these two options is the one that the player’s new character will come into play at. Ex:
    • A level 4 PC dies while the possible current base level is at 5. That player’s character does not meet the requirements to come in at level 5, so their new character comes in at two levels under 4 which is 2.
    • A level 6 PC dies under the same circumstances. Even though he is above the possible current base level, which is 5, he must come in at level 4, which is two under his base level and the lowest of the two values.
    • A level 15 PC dies under the same circumstances. 2 levels under would be 13, but because the current possible base level is the lower value, he must come in at level 5.

Note: If the new 5th level character from the last example dies under the same circumstances, then the next character comes in at level 3. If that character dies, then the new character after that is at level 1.   Vareholm's Wealth must equal at least double the XP amount of that level. E.g. at 600 WR, the minimum level is 2 for new adventurers (300XP) and at 13,000 WR the minimum level becomes 5 (6,500XP).
