Personal history

Born to a pack of shifters, he had several siblings but was ultimately the runt of the litter. 
One day while he and his siblings were playing in the woods, his siblings began to pick on him more and more until they'd bullied him into a corner with his back to a large cliff. The oldest and meanest of the siblings then pushed him off and he was left for dead. 
He hit the rocky bottom below and was nearly killed on impact, but he heard a woman's voice call out to him. "It is not yet your time, child." and he was healed by a passing traveler. The traveler was a member of the Ashok family returning from an errand. He took the lonely child with him and explained to the family what had happened. It was agreed that he would be able to stay under their care if he put in the work to stay there. 
He was given several manual labor tasks to busy his days and grew up learning how to be an effective retainer to the girl who was to become like a sister to him, Lady Addelaide. He serves her and the rest of their family with the utmost loyalty out of respect for saving his life.

His job became to assist Addelaide wherever she may go, so when she went to her tutoring lessons, he sat and listened in from time to time

Mental Trauma

As a result of his near death experience he now has a very severe fear of heights, cliffs especially. But also as a result of the noble upbringing, he's started repressing his emotions so isn't very good at confronting feelings of any sort other than anger. He's also lost sight of anything he wants to be, as his life in the Ashok family has always involved serving someone else. And he's always thought that he never truly belonged there, but he serves them loyally all the same as he feels it is his duty.

Shifter Barbarian, Addelaide's adopted brother and bodyguard, he's stoic and reserved but will loyally serve Addelaide until his dying breath. The two are hardly seen apart from eachother. But he's an incredibly skilled and fierce fighter in his own right, after all he didn't get the bodyguard position for nothing
