Blood Drops
Blood Drops are a half-orc delicacy that is traditional when a horse has fallen in battle. The drops are polished, frozen, horse blood and resemble tiny candies. They can be kept in a snow box, buried in the deep snows of Irktusk, and will last for almost a year before they break down. These drops provide little actual nourishment, but are significant to this tiny culture of strong warriors.
Different Kinds
Other forms of blood have been tried, but the Nation of Toth shut down the consumption of half-orc or orc blood. The half-orcs argued, but the warlord prevailed, citing disturbing habits and open warfare over the practice. Some of these half-orcs have since moved to Gromsh in the hopes that the God of hunger will let them practice this on fallen comrades but so far no word has been heard on the subjectHistory
The first Blood drops were crude frozen chunks ripped out of the ground by a half-orc warrior to stay alive during a blizzard. His horse fell under him in a skirmish with a Kair raiding party and he was left for dead. Surviving off of the frozen blood, and the carcass for warmth he made it back and told his comrades about what happened.
Execution
Horse blood is poured over the snow and left for aproximately three days, then it is harvested and polished to a round drop by hand, shaped by rough cloth until its almost shines.
Observance
Blood Drops are a favorite of the Half-orcs of Irktusk and it's a tradition when they observe Roankrist, the death of a steed. Not just any death, but one of battle. if the horse does of injuries recieved in a battle (mock or real) the horse is eligible for the tradition. if it dies of old age or complications from an illness, then nothing is done.
