Haer'Ash, The book of Heated Pleasure

Written by Salen

This cookbook, penned centuries ago by an up and coming culinary genius, has stood the test of time and remained on the edge of the food style all of these years. This is, in part, thanks to the orcs unadventurous appetite and bland taste buds. At the time, Boknar Everspice was astounding his teachers in culinary art school with an imagination like no other. Sadly no one wanted to try his outrageous creations, yet he graduated anyway, starting his own resaurant in the small village of Harnel on the island of Farthtusk. "Haer' Ash" The restaurant did so well that he penned the famous cookbook of the same name so that orcs could eat his creations anywhere in the Shards

Document Structure

Publication Status

Widely distributed and easily obtainable, this book is one of the few mass produced publications in the Shards.

Historical Details

Background

A lot of orcs thought that Boknar was crazy for writing this book, and arguments have been made down the centuries over as to why. The truth (from the lips of his hiers 60 years later) was that he made a good deal of money already off of his restaurant and truly wanted orcs all over the land to taste what he had created. it was a way for him to become immortal.

History

Forging ahead with his recipes in his own little restaurant despite the upturned tusks, he created a menu that would appeal to the orc mindset while adding a touch of something new. As orcs tend to eat plain meat with salt, he started to add sauces and baste them in odd flavors, leaving that off of the menus. They were a hit and even when he revealed what was in them, they were still gobbled up faster than he could make them. Soon everyone wanted a piece of his cooking and so he decided to write them down for anyone that wanted to cook them in their own home.

Public Reaction

The public swarmed over his recipes and soon every orc owned a copy of the book. Other chef's tried to emulate his work, but the orcs knew a fake from a true recipe. You just couldn't change some of the ingrediants and have it taste the same.

Legacy

Boknar's legacy is a group of recipes that have stood the test of time, appealing to orcs today the same as it did centuries ago.

Chef Boknar

Chef Boknar was a humble Grenan orc from the nation of Gromsh. He lived in farthtusk all his life and was obsessed with eating new things, sometimes even if they weren't edible. He always said he had a vision from Gnash, God of Hunger. In this vision he saw himself eating a great monster from the ocean the like no one had ever seen. he took this vision as a sign that he had to find something else to eat and share it with society.

The art by Maringouin really adds to the read and it was interesting to know the origin of the book. It would be really nice to have one recipe as an example.   Fun read !
