Salen’s Inescapable Cloud

Written by Salen

The Archmagus Salen Alasari came up with this during the battles against the rogue Psions during the Great War. He called upon the air and ether to create a fog to cloud the minds of all in the area and dampens their powers. It creates a red cloud of smoke that is utterly inhospitable to Psions. All Psions caught in the cloud cannot use their powers and it also damages them if they remain in the cloud. The cloud is stationary; once in place, it can be moved

Effect

This spell dampens the powers of Psions and causes them great pain.

Side/Secondary Effects

Psions that remain in the cloud for any length of time start taking damage as long as they stay in the cloud

Manifestation

It appears as a growing cloud of red smoke, growing until it fills the area then stops, hovering just above the ground.

Source

Elemental magic

Discovery

The Archmagus Salen came up with this on the fly, surrounded by three Psions in the forest of S'ren. Called the battle of allbrook, this was where the Psions first turned against their elven creators and went rogue.
Related Organizations
Related Element
Air & Ether
Effect Duration
approximately five minutes unless a strong wind blows it away.
Level
Generally full magus level as the casting of two elements is not easy.
Applied Restriction
Must have elven blood.

Variants

In later years this spell has been used to try and quell renegade mages as well, to little effect. While it does dampen the mind, it doesn't stop them from asking the elements for help or directing them. That being said, it was found to work on half-elves and their weaker connection to those elements.
