The Golden Lich Ring

The Golden Lich Ring is a vessel for the wearer's mind. For the first wearer of the Golden Lich Ring this item simply acts as a Ring of Mind Shielding (see Ring of Mind Shielding). Unlike a Ring of Mind Shielding however, when the wearer dies while wearing the ring their soul is trapped in the ring for eternity or until the ring is destroyed. Whoever puts on the Golden Lich Ring that contains a soul must overcome the power of that soul or souls trapped in the ring. If the new wearer conquers the soul/souls then they now have access to the skills, knowledge, and the obedience of the soul/souls. Alternatively, if the new wearer puts on the ring and is conquered by the soul already trapped in the ring then they have control over the wearer, and the wearer's soul is now trapped in their own body unable to control it until the Golden Lich Ring is either destroyed or removed from the wearer's body. The Golden Lich Ring is only able to house one soul at a time. In some rare cases the Golden Lich Ring may house two souls at a time, and in very rare occasions the Golden Lich Ring could be capable of housing three souls at a time. If a wearer dies while wearing a Golden Lich Ring that is full then the wearer's soul passes on to the afterlife as normal and the Ring of Souls stays the same.
Only that which created the Golden Lich Ring can destroy it, in most cases a hammer, but it must be the exact hammer that was used to forge the ring. Most deities and demon lords know of the origins of the Golden Lich Ring and can locate that which was used to forge it, and if they don't know where or what, then they usually know of another deity or demon lord that does.
