Demon

In the ancient times when kingdoms were rare, law was barely enforced and chaos was realming Ebbavion with few limitations there were many powerful magicians. One of them being Celian Maleficum. She meant to conquer vast parts of Eslira and Valon, thus needed an army to suppress her enemies. Infusing dead bodies with souls from deceased elementals, she created a completely new species, unknown even to the gods. They were so powerful, even the gods would interfere in order to regain order in Ebbavion.
Thus the demon race was created. Since they originated from elementals, many show similar powers, yet darker and more violent versions of them. Whereas many demons present ins monsterous shapes, some of them appear almost human or elven or have few distinctive features like horns, tails or bat-like wings. Despite their various appearances most demons share mostly evil goals and are commonly feared by mortals.
After reigning over Ebbavion alongside Celian Maleficium for over 150 years the gods constructed a prison in order to banish and hold demonkind within the Realm of Chaos. Most demons never left this prison, though some of the stronger ones escaped, often hiding as mortals or possessing a host. As a result, the tiefling race started to emerge in the Realm of the Living.
