Bleeding Tooth

Common plants of the Feywild

Basic Information

Anatomy

Those light pink mushrooms are slowly but constantly oozing blood out of pore-like holes. It has been confirmed that the mushrooms are leaking actual blood, although no one can say for certain how or why. The blood attracts Burrowing Beetles, who feast on it as bees might feast on nectar.

Ecology and Habitats

The Bleeding Tooth Mushroom is a surprisingly resilient species that thrives in any almost environment, be it forests, canyons, grasslands, or even deserts. It can be found in every Court expect the Winter Court.

Additional Information

Symbiotic and Parasitic organisms

While the mushrooms themselves are perfectly harmless, the Beetles that feast on them can suck a grown person dry of blood in a matter of mere minutes. Although I would not recommend it, the mushrooms themselves can be approached safely as long as the Beetles are not disturbed in their feast. Since you can never be too sure what constitutes as a disturbance or threat to another creature, the approach should be very carefully considered and is generally ill-advised.
