The Finders of Fortune

Introduction

The Finders of Fortune is one of the biggest, if not the biggest, guild in Ebea and offers a wide variaty of services. The guild can be found in all big cities and even many smaller ones. Although it is very expensive to hire a member of the guild, clients can always be absolutely sure that they get the material or resource they paid for, because upon retrieval the guild verifies the authenticity of the goods.

Professions

The people working for the guild are divided into five categories. One person can have multiple professions with a different rank respectively.
  • The Collectors can be hired to acquire all sorts of artifacts, paintings and other rarities.
  • The Gatherers can be hired to collect all kinds of resources, from common herbs to rare metals and monster parts.
  • The Shadows can be hired for gathering information, be it as an investigator or to find the location of ruins or artifacts.
  • The Shields can be hired for protection in ruins and dungeons or as bodyguards.
  • The Spears can be hired to take care of aggressive creatures.

Addendum

In recent years, a sixth profession was established. The Seekers search the areas surrounding villages and cities for deceased humanoids, making sure no bodies are left to rise as minions for the Necromancer Tyrant.

Progression of Ranks

When someone wants to start working for the guild, they have to proof themselves to a master of the profession they wish to take missions in. After having proven themselves to a Master, they will start as a Novice and can work their way up from there. Before they can get a higher rank, they need to complete a set amount of missions corresponding to their current rank; the higher the rank, the more missions are required. Once a person has completed the required amount of missions, they have the option to take on a missions of the next higher difficulty under observation of a Master, to prove they are able to take on missions of that level.

Ranks and Difficulties

When placing a mission with the guild, the guild catagorizes it into different difficulties based on the information given. The information must be given while standing in a Zone of Truth, to ensure that no important information is kept secret to give the mission a lower difficulty ranking. The higher the difficulty and risk involved, the more expensive the mission.   In order to take a job, a member of the guild needs to have at least the rank corresponding to the difficulty in the profession required by the mission.   A mission with a low danger/difficulty rating requires the guild member to at least have the rank of Novice in the required profession. Those missions include finding and gathering common resources or taking care of low level monsters and creatures such as wolves, bears and smaller goblin camps.

A mission with a moderate danger/difficulty rating requires the guild member to at least have the rank of Journeyman in the required profession. Those missions include finding and gathering uncommon materials, components and artifacts as well as taking care of bandit camps and wyrmling dragons.

A mission with a substantial danger/difficulty rating requires the guild member to at least have the rank of Veteran in the required profession. Those missions come with a fairly high risk and include finding and gathering rare materials, components and artifacts as well as taking care of dangerous creatures such as young dragons, vampires and beholders.

A mission with a severe danger/difficulty rating requires the guild member to have the rank of Master in the required profession. Those missions are the most dangerours of them all and include gathering extremely rare resources and components, taking care of deadly monsters such as adult dragons, ancient dragons and Liches.
