Private Steffen Esser was a Karrnathi Army recruit receiving basic training at Fort Zombie at the same time as the protagonists.
He grew up in the Kingsport district of Korth and often sailed with his father, a commercial fisherman, on long fishing expeditions in the Scions Sound. He enlisted at 18 in hopes of having enough money to buy his own fishing vessel by the time he's discharged.
He was shot and killed by Pvt. Oleg Bubnov during a training exercise on the final day of basic.
