The Magic of Eberron

Wide, not high

Magic in Eberron is both common place and quite rare. Think wide magic, not high magic. Your character might soar between cities on an Airship powered by bound elemental magic before stoppgin your favoite pub where the barkeeper uses a basic prestidgitation spell to chill your drink of choice. A Bard might spice up their act with a bit of illusion. Soldiers are nearly as likely to use wands as knives. Magic in Khorvaire while widespread is quite limited for the most part. Cantrips and 1st level spells are used nearly everywhere on a daily basis but magic above this level is uncommon. Spells like teleportation or raise dead are beyond the reach of all but the most skilled individuals or those with enough money or influence to hire or persuade them. Very rare or legendary magic (6th level and above) exists only in ledgends and folk tales.

Magical Abilities

Basic magical abilities are everywhere in Khorvaire and magic is often treated more as an arcane science than an artform. The Dragonmarked Houses provide a range of magicl services that are beyond the powers of a common Magewright . Occasionally a Manifest Zone allows energies from other planes to bleed over into the material planes permitting rare and powerful magical effects. Legendary magic is generally the result of efforts by dragons, demons or relics of times past. Any who are capable of wielding such magics would be ledgends in their own rights such as Mordain the Fleshweaver , the Keeper of the Silver Flame or the Daughters of Sora Kell .

A Khybershard
