Clifftop Adventurer's Guild
Sharn's Clifftop neighborhood, located in the upper part of the Dura district, has long served as a crossroads for adventurers and soldiers of fortune. It is extremely well-known throughout Sharn; the stories of the escapades of some of its members are the stuff of legend. A dwarf named Shekkal Korranor established the Clifftop Adventurers' Guild nearly 250 years ago, intending it as a place where explorers and wanderers could find support and good company. Shekkal died in the Last War, leaving ownership of the guild to his closest friend Sir Theobald Evans. So the guild remains- not only as a social club for adventurers and a one-stop marketplace for anyone seeking capable champions, but also as a last bastion of community and contentment in a world that is falling apart at its seams.
Plenty of organizations, and even government agencies, seek the assistance or services of Clifftoppers. This is mainly due to the guild's reputation as a collection of helpful and good-hearted adventurers. This reputation can be a very valuable tool for its members, winning favor with strangers and serving as a symbol of their achievements. On the flipside, this means the guild is vehement in their enforcement of the guild's core values of integrity, generosity, and curiosity. Additionally, it is notoriously difficult to gain membership to.
The headquarters of the CAG is a massive guildhall, made mostly of stone. It is the physical and social center of its district, built with the riches acquired over a lifetime of adventuring. Part quiet library, part comfortable inn, part active gymnasium, and part rowdy tavern, the guildhall contains practically every facility adventurers could need to train, study, and socialize. The neighborhood around it caters to adventurers' other needs with its variety of shops and services. Some businesses will offer discounts to Clifftoppers, and provide exceedingly exceptional service as to not displease and lose the business of other adventurers.
A fierce rivalry simmers between the Clifftop guild and Sharn's other local adventurers' guild, the Deathsgate Explorers Club. The DEC has a reputation for embracing rather aggressive tactics to achieve its exploration and adventuring goals. Sometimes the rivalry can be described as almost friendly, but the Deathsgate guild occasionally escalates it with vandalism of the Clifftop guildhall or even physical (but usually nonlethal) attacks on guild members in dark alleys.
