Eternity Rocks

When studying the creation and origin of spells, there is a topic that is considered taboo amongst all of its scholars. Even just holding knowledge of these objects is unsafe, and any information related to them is considered dangerous and forbidden. Some go mad pursuing their power. Others spend lifetimes searching for them. Some scholars say there are no facts, but mere rumors of these objects. But that’s no more than the frightened denial of those who wish they did not exist. These objects, these artifacts, these paragons of power are known cautiously as the Eternity Rocks.   There are three theories about the origins of the Rocks, but no one can say for sure which of them is true. Or perhaps none of them are.
  1. Before there was time, there were three dragons, Siberys, Eberron, and Khyber. If the myths are true, then each of these Progenitor Dragons’ eyes represented an essential aspect of existence: Mind, Power, Reality, Soul, Space, and Time. With the destruction of Siberys at the hands of Khyber, and the sacrifice of Eberron to entrap Khyber, each of these essences were forged into concentrated ingots: the Eternity Rocks.
  2. In 40,000 BK, invaders from Dal Quor, the Plane of Dreams, threatened the foundation of the giants’ civilization in the distant continent of Vrigan. Even the mighty giants, who had been taught magic by the dragons themselves, were struggling against the invaders, and needed a better weapon. The Vrigans came together, and created the Eternity Rocks. Using this newfound weapon, the most powerful of the storm giants destroyed not only the invaders, but one of the moons of Eberron, severing the connection between the Plane of Dreams and the Material Plane.
  3. Perhaps the most mysterious theory is that the Eternity rocks were planted in the Material Plane by the Dark Six. Placed in remote locations throughout the Material Plane, and meant to be discovered by one worthy enough to harness their power. This worthy individual would be destined to destroy the world as we know it, and in doing so, would join the pantheon of the Dark Six.
Regardless of the origin of the Rocks, they harness the capabilities of some of the most powerful spells known to mortal beings. Time Stop, Power Word Kill, True Resurrection...but the Rocks did not copy their magic from the spells. The spells were created in the image of harnessing a portion of the Rocks' power.   Most dangerous of all...if all six Rocks are combined and harnessed by a single creature, they are capable of casting the most powerful spell of all, Wish, at their own behest.   Wielding the Rocks is dangerous for almost everyone save gods or incredibly powerful mortals. Using the Rocks requires an incredible level of intelligence and durability, and even then, an appropriate vessel must be used to harness the power of the Rocks. A theoretical contraption dubbed the Eternity Glove is an example of such an object capable of doing so, but the construction of one would require extreme skill and extraplanar materials. Additionally, there are rumors that a creature can be specially created or modified to harness the Rocks.
