King Boranel ir'Wynarn
King Boranel ir'Wynarn is the monarch of the nation of Breland. Instrumental in negotiating the Treaty of Thronehold, he is one of the most popular rulers that Breland has ever known. He is a wise ruler, and has made decisions that show his clear concern for the well-being of his citizens.
King Boranel is the third son of Boranex ir'Wynarn, the previous King of Breland. Boranel's two older brothers died in the Last War, and his younger brother Kor ir'Wynarn is the commander of the King's Citadel. Growing up, Boranel recieved a broad education with a focus on the arts of war. As an adult, Boranel served in the Brelish army, rising swiftly through the ranks to become a general due to his merits.
Despite this primarily battle-driven personal history, King Boranel was one of the first to see the fruitlessness of the war. Even though his nation was one of the most successful, he knew it would never end in a manner satisfactory to any nation, even the victor. It was difficult to simply withdraw from the war, as the animosity built up over decades of war would not merely disappear; your enemies would almost certainly continue to attack you. Thus, when The Mourning hit in 994 YK, King Boranel seized the opportunity to commence talks of peace, and continued to be a key proponent of the Treaty of Thronehold.
