Session 50: Might of the Eldritch Flame

General Summary

  • The mighty four entered into their wing. It was dark and damp, but each was able to see through the darkness. They made their way carefully along the narrow passageway, scanning carefully for any sign of traps. None were spotted until N'nchyk narrowly avoided falling into a pit below the thin layer of water in the corridor. Inspecting this anomaly revealed that the water seemed to float above an empty pit.
  • The four were able to leap slushily across the gap with no problems.
  • They then found themselves in a long corridor with strange metal panels along them. It was eventually discerned that the corridor was extremely hostile to anything metal, but was at least tolerable otherwise. Corpses of deformed warforged littered the hallway. N'nchyk and Lumen sprinted through with no problems other than their metal sidearms heating up uncomfortably. Philip and Viribus elected to remove their metal armor and push it along.
  • Before they could don it again, a wave of ghouls sprung from the walls through a hidden door. Though there were many, MEF spread out strategically and took them out one by one with little issue.
  • After N'nchyk unsuccessfully tried to resurrect a warforged, they then climbed some stairs, out of the mucky water and into a passageway beyond.
  • MEF was led into a peculiar room bookended by two normal-looking floors, broken up by spiky pits and a shimmering surface in between. Both Philip and Virbus could feel that magic was somehow surpressed in this room, but N'nchyk's Druidcraft still worked. Bellum was also able to fly without issue. After briefly considering, Lumen took a running jump into the central area.
  • The floor, walls, and ceiling were entirely frictionless. He could not aim his direction, nor gather any sort of push for a jump. He was pure momentum. In desperation, Bellum tried heaving Lumen across the gap as he fell, and was just barely able to do so while Bellum himself was pushed into the spikes.
  • Bellum was wracked with terrible spasms before Lumen quickly restored him in a lesser manner.
  • After being ambushed by, and subsequently curbstomping, a couple of gargoyles, MEF found themselves at a minor junction. Turning left, they found themselves at a locked door that was not surrendering any physical damage as N'nchyk wailed upon it. So, they proceeded in the opposite direction.
  • They found themselves in a room with a hovering stream that flowed fairly heavily in one direction into a sizable gap in the wall. The room also contained a couple kayaks. Two and two were put together, and the kayaks were loaded into the river. They sailed through the gap, and into an ambush. The room they found themselves in was some sort of living area, with cots, rations, chairs, tables; very similar to a nicer kind of military barracks.
  • Heavily armored warriors were waiting for them - orcs, tieflings, shifters, even one dward. One of the humans was Sir Bludo, a wanted member of the Knights Arcane in Aundair for the River of Blood mass-murders.
  • Blows were exchanged, with Sir Bludo dealing the heaviest of them all. Viribus enshrouded himself in a sphere of darkness. N'nchyk hit Sir Bludo with spell after spell that he was just barely shrugging off. Lumen took to the skies, and rained hell upon them all. Philip made sure everyone stayed standing. But it was going poorly. Sir Bludo was simply hitting to hard - until one spell turned the entire tide.
  • Viribus eldritch blasted Sir Bludo to the complete opposite end of the room where N'nchyk froze him in place with a Hold Person spell. Sir Bludo was helpless as the blows came in - the most devastating of which, and the final one, coming from a furious Viribus.
  • Sir Bludo was slain. But the reinforcements had just arrived.
