Session 53: Seizing Noises
General Summary
A New Perspective
- The six liv'uns awoke with their new bond: "You know beyond a shadow of a doubt that doom awaits Khorvaire unless it is saved by the Daughters and Droaam. A war is coming, and the Daughters of Sora Kell are giving it a sword."
- Viribus was still a little grumpy that Lumen was killed and turned into a flesh golem with a number 9 etched in his chest, but Sorata Lavyn said "too bad" and gave them their next quest.
- N'nchyk was seizing and unconscious. "Again?!?" said the Crew. "We aren't even at Philip's house this time!" But it was but this time around. The enlightenment he had just received, combined with whatever eldritch horror resided in his brain, was pulling N'nchyk in half. The Crew could save him and the eastern Eldeen Reaches in one go if they were willing.
- Of course they weren't, but had no other plans at the moment. So Sorata Lavyn drew up the plan: go to a town called Niern where a war was taking place between the druids called Gatekeepers and the forces of the daelkyr. These druids, combined with an artifact called the Embers of Exorcism, could purge N'nchyk of the evil within him. And Niern too would be saved.
- "Neat", said the Crypt Crew, and left through a portal. Except for Dooturr, who stayed behind to
- They found themselves in a large group of trees, commonly referred to as a forest. It was also dark outside. Ashpin contemplated whether or not they should contact Brucos regarding their new perspective. Brucos contemplated this alongside them, as he was standing right there.
- Brucos said he wished he could have been the one to show them what they were about to see - the true presence of N'nchyk's friend - as he would have shown them something similar. He then gave Ashpin some new armor, saying its last inhabitant wasn't as appreciative as Ashpin. He wished them luck on their upcoming journey.
- That journey led them to a town on fire, where an angry dwarf was squashing warped, four-armed creatures into the dirt. The Crew joined in on the squashing, and while the creatures were quite clearly hostile and evil, Maleakos felt a tinge of guilt after reenacting the historic tragedy of a far-off place.
- Continuing into the heart of the town was a warzone. Druids were battling creatures everywhere, and the Crew helped where they could, but there mission was in the town square, where the Embers would likely be.
- Frederick Glorybuff was in the town fighting for his life, as Verin had long ago sent him to Niern to investigate House Vadalis magebreeding that might serve to create a Ring of Spell Storing.
- There were more things to squash here, like two husks of Magrora that had achieved mycelium mitosis. They were riding horrid beasts with barbed tentacles covered in eyes. There was also a tower of eyeless bodies, atop which was a globule of pulsing, blinking eyes. The minions seemed to draw power from this tower. This eldritch monstrosity of a construction was disabled with an equally eldritch creation: The Device.
- More things were squished. Some of the minions were guarding the tower, and the new dwarf Bagan jumped onto the roof and began throwing some tiny axes at them.
