Dials (Rough Draft)

Dials are a kind of spell storing item created during the last war by House Cannith that serve as an alternative to spell scrolls. The main advantage that the dials have over spell scrolls is how much easier they are to mass produce as a cheaper cost. During the war every nation would equip their elite troops with different kinds of dials to enhance their combat abilities which led to dials being one of Cannith's most valuable products.

How they are made

Dials are created through an Eldritch Machine called an Infusion Factory. These factories are located at different manifest zones throughout Khorvaire with each zone providing access to different kinds of spells that can be infused in the dials.

What they're made of

Dials are composed of two parts

• The Shell: The outer casing of the dial that contains the power captured from the manifest zone. The shell also has the spell inscription for the particular spell that the dial casts.
• An infused dragonshard: The power source of the dial that contains the charge from the manifest zone. Some infused dragonshards are able to hold enough of a charge for multiple uses. When the shard runs out of its charge it needs to be refilled at manifest zone connected to the plane whose energy infused the shard to begin with.
