Thorn was born to a small noble family in Cyre. Despite the War, her father was a successful jeweler whose works were popular with the rich folk across the Five Nations.
Thorn displayed a talent for both the blade and the arcane arts, and her family sent her to a prestigious university in Cyre where she could pursue both avenues.
Thorn was returning home via airship from her final year of university when the Mourning took place, and she could only watch helplessly from above as the deadly mist engulfed her nation below.
Thorn was taken to New Cyre, the refugee camp in Breland, where she grappled with the shock and grief of losing her family and homeland. She scanned the faces of each new wave of survivors that entered the camp, hoping that by some miracle she would see a familiar face, but none ever appeared. She stayed in the camp for almost two years post-Mourning struggling to adapt to her new reality and questioning what her new purpose in life could be. As a way to cope with her loss and to focus her energy, she became obsessed with the day of Mourning and what could have possibly caused it. She set out from the camp to travel the continent of Khorvaire to hone her fighting skills and investigate who- or what- caused the Mourning. She hopes to finally find closure by avenging her destroyed nation. She forsook her given name and now goes only by "Thorn", her lost family's name.

General Physical Condition

The 'typical' look of a Cyran: graceful, with a slender build and long limbs. Wavy dark hair left loose to shift freely as she moves.

Apparel & Accessories

Prior to the Mourning she was fond of bright, long, and flowing fashion, particularly Glamerweave, a form of clothing imbued with illusory magic that was popular among Cyrans. She adorned her outfits with jewelry that had been crafted by her father.
Post-Mourning, she adopted dark "mourningwear" and more practical adventuring attire. She conceals an ornate necklace under her dark tunic.
