The second son of a minor nobleman, Tholas had few options for making a name for himself. A chance encounter with an old soldier – Odfrin Smyth – led to him signing up for the Brelish infantry. As a usually indecisive fellow, Tholas found the relative simplicity of a life following orders to his liking. When the war ended, he followed his old sergeant into the mercenary business.
