Canon

Halfling boy in street clothes   Voice: Quiet, childlike   Job: Pickpocket   Location: Middle Dura, The Bazaar   Description: Canon is the pickpocket (has knock, mage hand, and amazing dexterity for sleight of hand saves) who lives in the bazaar and stole Therin's coin purse and several other items of import. If found, he will part with 250 gp worth of loot that he had stolen from several other people in the bazaar. He also bribes the party with a Mysterious Black Flame Lantern that he stole from "a magician" passing through the bazaar. He doesn't want the party to rat him out to Ilsa Boromar, who warned him about stealing from the clan when he lifted Tye Copperkettle's arm a few months ago. Canon is a fixture of The Bazaar, and is known by many of the shopkeepers who he shrewdly pays for keeping his business a secret. He has a personal connection with Sundry, who also does work for the Boromar Crime Family, and has a "big sister" relationship with the boy.

In Our Story:

After stealing Therin Aloro's coinpurse(s) in broad daylight, Canon became the Sharn Dragon's favorite pickpocket. Though he eluded them on their first encounter, they were able to find him later in the week. Afterwards, as a bit of a bribe to keep Ilsa Boromar out of his business, he shared the Mysterious Black Flame Lantern with them.   Later, Therin recruited the halfling boy to help him steal some explosive bolts from The King's Citadel. He was caught by Sergeant Meshindi Vargas of the King's Swords, and Therin killed the man to help his accomplice escape. Though they were ultimately successful, Canon was killed (briefly) by a crossbow bolt as they two fled the tower.

Plot Hooks:

Canon imparted the Mysterious Black Flame Lantern to the party, demonstrating its ability to draw an item from an extra-dimensional space. It still isn't clear where these items are located, or how the lantern works.
