Lady Warden Maira ir'Talan

A distant relative of the Lord Commander, leads the Blackened Book and serves as Lady Warden of the Sharn City Jail. A gifted diviner, Maira is a highly effective leader and is respected by those that she commands. Though otherwise a fair person, Maira has developed a distaste for traditional magic users due to her constant reminders of the darker side of magic. She can generally stomach the idea of deputizing wizards to assist her in keeping the peace but will not exchange that same courtesy to warlocks and sorcerers (whom she generally mistrusts).
Though she has been married to her husband, Rolf Kanan, for nearly fifteen years, she can usually be found in her office above the small jail. With House Kundarak's Dreadhold incarerating the worst criminals, and Sharn's proclivity for branding, fining, or exiling most of the rest, the jail holds mainly small time criminals for a week or less, suspects for questioning, or those pending sentencing.
