Maximillian ir'Valant
Maximillian was always perceptive, even as a boy. His aptitude and obsession to identify and catalogue details was seen as a peculiarity by his friends and relations, but many members of the upper class were known to seek distraction to combat boredom. Max most of his life aimlessly applying his powers of observation, deduction, and logic on whatever whims or fancies crossed his way.
It was only when he ventured down into Callestan that he suddenly found a purpose for all of his raw talent. Every criminal activity was immediately obvious to him, every evidence of graft, robbery, and murder. It was an affront to his senses and his conscience.
He applied to the Inquisitives Guild that very day, not even stopping by his home first. Since then, he has solved several crimes for the Sharn City Watch. The kindly older gentleman has developed an enviable reputation as a keen mind, whose only real flaw seems to be his specific interest in pursuing crimes that implicate the Boromar Crime Family.
In Our Story:
Maximillian ir'Valant is searching for an elven or half-elven man with a double-bladed scimitar, last seen in the company of a halfling child. The man in question is accused of the murder of one (name), a sergeant in the King's Citadel.Uses:
Maximillian is a "gentleman's gentleman" and, though a tad eccentric, is well-known and thought of in higher social circles. His wife, Thurma, does not approve of his "little hobby", but he is a man driven to put his talents to good use. Maximillian would willingly introduce people to high society or use his talent for investigation to help someone that he believed to be a truly good person.Interactions with other NPCs:
Maximillian could be expected to know senior members of noble families or dragonmarked houses. He is diametrically opposed to the Boromar Crime Family and has been known to take assignments pro bono if it is believed that the halfling criminals are involved. He resents the Boromars because they are well-known criminals who have not suffered for the harm they have inflicted on others.
