Order of the Emerald Claw

The Order of the Emerald Claw is an outlawed organization of Karrn patriots and Blood of Vol worshipers. Originally a group of elite shock-trooper-style knights in the service of the crown of Karrnath during the Last War, it has spread throughout Khorvaire and operated underground since its outlawing in 976 YK.
The Order continues to operate in a semi-terrorist fashion to this day, proclaiming their desire to see Karrnath once again rise to power and garnering support from the Blood of Vol.

History

The Order of the Emerald Claw was established in 896 YK to aid Karrnath during the Last War. Karrnath had been suffering from several major setbacks and a famine at the beginning of the war, and the knights of the Emerald Claw helped shore up Karrnath's defenses. However, due to its radical faith, many began to distrust the Order of the Emerald Claw over the course of the war. In 976 YK, Regent Moranna ir'Wynarn staged a coup and outlawed the Order of the Emerald Claw, charged its members with various crimes, and seized its bases in Karrnath.

Organization

It is said that the leader of the Emerald Claw is a powerful female lich, and that she uses a group called the Crimson Court to manage her vast network of spies and operatives. Since the order was officially outlawed from Karrnath, it no longer operates with a strict hierarchy like it did during the War. Today it is broken up into numerous cells spread out over Khorvaire. Each cell is led by an officer, and below them are Emerald Claw Knights, members who have proven their skills in combat and their loyalty to the Order. Under the knights are troopers, who are a mix of cultists, criminals, or Karrnathi patriots. The order also employs spies and mercenaries when needed.
