The Broken Anvil Inn

The rock in your hand vibrates faster as you approach a rowdy inn filled with halflings. Pushing the door open to enter, you see several small tables and chairs filled with halflings enjoying a pint and a bit of entertainment. A young halfling bard is on the stage singing a song that sounds foreign to Breland, and several of the drunkards in the audience are catcalling her. One asshole is louder than the rest and begins to stand up when a large glass streaks across the room and pelts him in the temple, shattering while knocking him out cold. The other patrons look to the one on the floor, then back to the matronly bartender that threw it. A small murmur and polite clapping are now all that can be heard.
This small tavern with a handful of rooms to rent is carved into a bend in the wall of Mason’s Tower. House Ghallanda operates the inn, and the host is a matronly halfling named Eranna.

In our story:

Zae stays in this inn as a busser, renting a room upstairs with her meager wages. She is a favorite of the bartender, who covertly covers half the cost of her rent. She uses her mark to control the vermin that can be found in the bar, and she collects the best information from one of the mice at the end of the day.
