Chauncey Chaucer

A magically gifted member of the Cold Sun Federation, Chauncey was marked for importance from his birth. With the end of the contct wars in Q’barra, many there is a peace, but it is tentative. While the war was technically ended with a truce, the simple fact is Newthrone and the assorted colonists have clawed out a foothold in Q’barra and in many ways, they achieved their goals while the Cold Sun Federation lost in theirs. Reflective of this imbalance of power, many wards were sent from Q’barra to learn of the continent of Khorvaire… and to ensure the Cold Sun Federation doesn’t retaliate from numerous instances of settlers ignoring the truce.   Many people see the Cold Sun Federation as strange because they all share very similar experiences due to their shared dreams. They speak in idioms that other races find strange and backwards. Chauncey doesn’t because he is dreamless and is known in Q’barra as such. When Chauncey was sent away, it wasn’t much of a loss for the Masvirik’uala. Since he doesn’t access the shared dreams of the Cold Sun, he’s equally as confounded by their ways as the other races of Khorvaire, and he’s much better suited to life as a ward than most others. Despite being a “ward,” Chauncey found himself as the ward of several houses before becoming “indebted” to Margalev Amastacia for her magical tutelage.   After being transported to Cyre, Chauncey found a device made of a stone covered in runes and two Khyber dragonshards - A Quori Gatestone. That night, for the first time in his life, Chauncey dreamed and found himself at the feet of his patron, the Black Dragon Rhashaak. Chauncey began to realize the stone was more than just a trinket.   Chauncey sought out a professor of Oneiromancy at the Insitute of Wynarn in Metrol and found Professor Gulad, an expert in dreams and the Dal Quori - which Chauncey learned was due to Gulad being a Kalashtar.   Chauncey kept the stone close and continued to explore his newfound power to dream, but the device was destroyed in the gang's battle with the Lord of Blades, D38t5's factory setting.
