House Orien
The two houses that are primarily transportation-based houses were critical to the recovery of the nations of Khorvaire and the other dragonmarked houses. Airships, lightning rail, fast sea-going ships and landcarts have all come back, but in the case of each house it has meant that the house is now tied to the whim of powerful investors.
House Lyrandar tried to broker deals with house Kundarak, but the talks went badly. THen an investor from Argonnessen – a dragonborn representative of a Great Wyrm with ideas of becoming a financial power – showed up and made the half-elves an offer they could not refuse. The house has largely recovered and is perhaps stronger than ever, but the house is now run with dragonborn “observers” who essentially have the right to command the dragonmarked people of the house as they see fit – often in the service of unclear motives and plans known only to the dragons.
House Orien, on the other hand, is a bit better off. Their benefactor has been Sora Terayaza herself, one of the daughters of Sora Kell. This has resulted in rumors that the house is now influenced by fey powers, and it is true that a new spur has connected Great Crag to Breland and Sharn by Lightning Rail.
