Kingsgarden
The neighborhood of Korth called Kingsgarden was once a wealthy mercantile district. After the Destruction of the Tower of the Twelve and the economic depression that accompanied it, the area has fallen on hard times. Nearly all of the mercantile interests have left, many of the shops have been converted to multi-family dwellings, and one warehouse is now a tannery. It is that tannery and the smell of urine wafting from it that gives Kingsgarden its good-naturedly ironic name. The only original business that remains is The Different Dog, and without House Ghallanda backing (and air-freshening) it's doubtful even that noted Korth landmark would survive.
Kingsgarden isn't a slum, but it has been heading in that direction for the last few years. There are areas, especially immediately around the Different Dog, that remain stubbornly middle-class. But there are also areas into which respectable citizens simply will not venture. The rest of Kingsgarden, most of it really, unsteadily straddles the line between these extremes. Entrepreneurs like Lascivious Lotus are bringing new money to the district and have reclaimed whole neighborhoods by running off the gangs and building nice, affordable housing. Of course, in Lotus' case, the people in said housing are almost all working prostitutes, but some folks will complain about anything.
