Overlord

The following is taken from Library of Korranberg professor emeritus Minim E. Eivoll's historical treatise, We Are All Skott: The Real Heroes of the Time of Levistus.

The staggeringly powerful fiends known as the Overlords were the first true children of the Progenitor Dragon Khyber. Spawned some ten million years ago, these hateful, cruel entities ruled all of creation for the millennia of darkness called the Age of Demons. Ultimately, the combined might of the children of the other Progenitors, the couatl and the dragons, narrowly overcame the fiends, but only at great cost. The couatl gave their lives to trap all thirty Overlords deep beneath the underworld, where they remain to this day.
To many modern scholars (including myself, I am forced to admit), this account always seemed trite mythology - an amusing scrap of ancient superstition to be told around a warm hearth. In classrooms, professors might have chuckled when discussing mystical cabals seeking to free the Overlords from their eternal prisons. The rakshasas of the Lords of Dust (so the "enlightened" thinking went) have more immediate aims than chasing after children's stories. How wrong we were. How terribly, tragically wrong. The events of 999 - all of the misery and destruction caused by just one (very real) Overlord who never even managed to fully manifest on this plane - taught all of us one very clear, very poignant truth: We must be vigilant; we must be brave; and, most importantly, we must be certain that we never, whether through inaction or negligence, allow such an event to ever happen again.

Bel Shalor, the Shadow in the Flame, is perhaps the most well-known fiend due to its central role in a popular religion. The saint Tira Miron is said to have locked this entity within the Silver Flame over 700 years ago.
Eldrantulku the Oathbreaker is the spirit of discord. In its presence, allies become bloody enemies.
The Horned Prince is worshiped by evil, bestial peoples, especially minotaur.
Katashka, the Gatekeeper, is the Overlord of life and death. Its servant was the first undead ever created, the demigod Kyuss.
Levistus nearly broke free from its prison deep beneath the ice of The Frostfell in the year 999, but was thwarted by the Troublemakers.
Masvirik, the Cold Sun, holds dominion over all things that slither. It is trapped somewhere deep in Q'barra where, according to dragonborn legends, its servants the Blackscale and Poison Dusk lizardfolk, as well as the ancient black dragon Rhashaak, plot its freedom.
