Feystone (fā ˈstōn)

Material found in all living creatures with higher concentrations found in creatures closer connected to the wild.
Material has multiple magical purposes and can be used as an alternative to dragon shards for magical components and tools although it has a lower effectiveness than Dragon shards.
This has to be harvested shortly after the expenditure of the life of the creature, otherwise the magical energy will dissolve back to nature within a few hours. This becomes a dilemna if the animal is going to be used as a food source as some of the flavor requires some of the feystone to be leaked back into the body.
In addition to the relative short time for harvesting, blunt damage to the creature in the right location (usually near the heart) will cause destruction to the stone.
