Session 0B: How we all met

General Summary

This session was first for Technical setup, followed by arranging and linking everyone.
Astara and Twig were the first to arrive and stayed in Stokedown for 2 years. They have connection to the Temple of the Sovereign Host.
Two years later, Eevan & Trajan arrive to Stokedown. Each in their own way and own place, they get in trouble for stealing and trying to steal food products, much to the ire of the merchants there. Maverick witnesses this and takes them both under this wing. Trajan being beast-like as a toddler, not speaking common and looking non-human, he was first adopted as a pet.
Very soon after, Astara, being curious, follows local non-orphan kids playing kite, all the way into a back alley. Twig followed his sister around, as he usually does. All 4 kids stumble into a meeting of unsavory characters who didn't take kindly to being interrupted. They booted the kids out of the alley, (roughly). The 2 local kids ran crying to mom and dad. Astara and Twig had no family to run to, but Maverick witnessed this and brought them into the fold.
For 2 years, they clean up the cave and begin to collect things for it. They eventually need to learn to make a fire to keep warm, but their first attempt, with Twig and Astara tasked for the job, goes bad. The fire catches in the grease on the ground, from where the trash once was and spreads, trapping Twig in the depth of the cave. Panic and need to act has the twin's minds reeling and triggers Eevan's ability to mind link, rushing to the event. Seeing this, Trajan and Maverick follow and everyone helps Astara to put out the fire and get Twig. He's ok, but would have needed time to recover from all the smoke inhalation.
The rest of the time, they each learn about of their favorite quirks and setup, from Eevan and Twig learning to eat bugs, to Twig finding mushrooms in the cave to learn to grow a patch, to Astara gaining a prayer book and discover Trajan isn't a pet but smart, and teach him common, not to mention developing his fire breath little by little. Maverick also teaches what he can for alphabet and numbers, with the twin's help as they had coaching from the temple. He can however take it a step further and begins to teach the others to read a little - syllables mainly. Then they go around town and speak to local non-orphan kids. How they get information about the world, rumors and such. He teaches everyone to play marbles, some can play for fun, others can hustle and get coins from the kids. He teaches to rumage at the warehouse in the train station. Those who like it, can learn to play cups, and they spend many a rainy day with games of go fish in their cave.
2 years later, Nina arrives. The group witness her arrive by airship, and then get abandonned by her parents right in the streets. They take her in.
1 year later, by train but with some months apart, Youka and Ehverit arrive and are found on the train by guards as these are stripped of goods fully and inspected thoroughly. The group was sneaking in the warehouse areas to find any dropped and forgotten goods and spotted Youka get rudely kicked off the vehicle. She looked different, but they took them in, with Astara making sure to give a piece of her mind to the guard who takes note that orphans now live in the city cave and actually seems apologetic. Eventually, Youka begins to take traits of group members.
For Ehverit, he was asked where his parents were about, and he told the guards he had none. They tried to grab him but he ran. Youka was a frequent train rail wanderer in case of other stray kids, and Ehverit ran right into her. Seeing one of the city orphan intercept Ehverit, they figured it was handled and backed out, going back to their post. Youka was able to talk Ehverit into joining the group and they've been there for the past year.
This is where the group still learns to work together, work to bring a few coins in and earn a bit of their own too, finish to "furnish" to where it's at today, or do water runs at the city well to bring home water buckets. You all learn very basic gardening (plants need dirt and water, bit of sun to live) and get some things growing. You also all learn to setup up a campfire properly and go collecting wood, either from scrap furniture or sometimes, branches and such.

Notes

Discussed world knowledge:

There is no orphanage in Stokedown, and people are trying to make ends meet, so unwilling to care for more children than their own. Orphans roaming about are seen one sees a stray dog or cat, as normal. They are a symptom of the recent war and are for the most part, ignore. To add to this, the group took over a cave that was adding trash in the city, as the denizen often through garbage in there instead of taking it to the designated dumpsite, out of laziness. The kids cleaning it up was a benefit to the area.
