Session 1: August 27th Report - Games and Junkyards
General Summary
The adventure begins early in the fall, on a nice warm day in the region of Stokedown, Breland. Nothing of great note is happening in the city: no large rumors are cisculating, and the flux of refugees has slowed. The world is beginning to finally settle after the war ended, some 4 years ago.
The kids, now a small family, wake early, with the rising sun. Some by choice, others, by the choice of their peers. Our early risers; Eevan, Twig and Youka, as up first, rustling awake and on their feet and in a cheery mood. Ehverit, also awake as early, isn't as fast to rise, taking it slower, but still in a cheery mood. The later risers; Astara, Nina and Trajan, are woken up by Youka poking and, as needed, shaking them awake, in addition to the chiming "Good mornings!" of Eevan and the conversations of the others around them.
That morning, they soon realized that their buckets of water for daily care were empty and due for refill. A mundane task they often have to contend with. Waking the also late sleeping Maverick, the group set out to assign who would fetch more at the well. Volunteers soon highlighted the five who would try muscles and brawn achieving the task: Astara, Eevan, Ehverit, Nina and Youka. Meanwhile, for the first needing some water, Twig assisted through his mushroom patch, finding that one type of mushroom held the liquid in volume in its sponge-like texture. Still, more is needed.
Trajan, determined to work his skills with a Whestone, stays home to practice (in the dark, one would add). Twig, hyper focused on his mushroom patch, didn't volunteer, from what it seems, mainly because he realized people were leaving only long after they were gone. He tried sharing some mushroom from breakfast, figuring the edible ones with the idea that, the brightest ones are surely the best and safest types. Taking therefore, the colorful blue one to share. It did end up edible, of sorts, turning to sand into Twig and Trajan's mouth. The meal then turned into a complete game of hide and seek in the cave, culminating in an attempt to sneak onto Maverick, foiled either by him or the return of the others, hard to say.
The group that went to town, in addition to discuss the passing of the buckets, and Eevan greeting cheerily every single passerby, made it to the well just fine. There, they saw an acquaintance of the group, Damaia, another child their age. Also a rarity in town as a tiefling, she doesn't seem too bothered by the nature of it, and is instead in good moods, just finishing a grab of water herself. She is greeted by the group, who asks what she is up to, and she speaks of a project. At the request of Astara, also explains that the project is her parents and family opening their new clothing shop at the market. On this, the red haired, needle-decorated tiefling heads off to finish her water delivery as the group tackle their task. Everyone grabs water, but Astara and Youka make a wet mess of themselves, struggling with the heavy buckets at unload. Nina, also a bit wet, pitches this in a practical light: A task done AND a bit of laundry / bathing achieved! They then manage to return home and set their filled buckets back in the washroom, and gather to the communal room at Maverick's request.
GAME BREAK
Sitting around the makeshift table, Maverick informed everyone that he had business to attend to in town today, coinciding with a recent drop off at the local junkyard. Normally he would supervise a visit there, but decided they were old enough to handle this alone. After much reassurance that his task was safe despite other risk, they weren't going to loose their home or Maverick himself, the agreed to go. He handed a reluctant Trajan a Healer's kit and assigned him the role of looking for the others, while Astara volunteered to lead the way, South of town.
The group left and headed South, past the gate and past the South farmlands, past the windmill to the first crossroad, to the left. Sadly Astara missed the junction and was notified by Trajan, lookout to the rear. Twig, lookout to the front. They backtracked and found themselves in a mound of trash and garbage, finding a broken hand-cart (kind of like a wheelbarrow but with 2 wheels) missing just a wheel on the left. Astara suggested using the lids of barrels for a wheel, so they would have means to return home with more than they could normally carry. It took little time and Ehverit lucked in on some non-moldy barrels, and they then could fix the cart while the others started to dive in. It took little time for everyone to delve in and search, for specific items or for whatever was of interest. The top of the pile was a bit of a slippery slope though, and at a point, Astara slid down and scratched her arm. Her twin, Trig was quick to rush to the scene, with Trajan helping and soon, her arm was oinmented and over-wrapped in bandages... but ok!
Everyone found little bits and bobs of things (list below) and packed the cart... when some finds disturbed the local rat populace staying in the junkyard. These trash mammals exposed to enough rot and humanoid trash showcased suffering from some form of diseased form, which may explain why their aim was oh so very poor. Though it took a few tries and weird attempts, eventually, one was crushed by Ehverit and his wine bottle, and elbow DDT'ed to death by Trajan. The threat dispersed, goods gathered, the group headed back home to rest and distribute their loot, getting ready for another day, as the orphans of Stokedown.

Notes
IC Chat now opened: Kid Cave / Cave of Wonders (Name confirmation pending)
Twig's mushroom identification: The blue mushroom is unknown in name, but edible, just needs something to achieve good eating. The actual edible as is are the three drab ones: Button mushrooms, water orbs (more water than food, but still edible) and Oyster mushrooms. A fifth type is in the patch, unknown but wearysome, because it is bigger than the others, but still looks like a shoot, a baby plant.
