Session 20: Promotion and vacation Report
General Summary
After some clumsy sending replies between Youka and Firebrand (Youka's former paladin mentor), it was established that changelings have demonic ancestry. The beings they saw, had something to do with the Aasimar of the Krezent ruins. The group then went to sleep.
In the morning, there was debate of what to do next. First, they settled the lenght of their vacation, and set for 2 weeks. Then travel was debated and arranged. Twig and Astara went to Fairhaven to try and get a bank load for a year pass on airship, which is very expensive (100gp), but turned out to be very complicated, requiring references and much paperwork (low roll), so instead they got a single ticket. Astara tried to get a free pass by boarding as a cat, but forgot that their wildshape only lasts an hour, and ended up having to pay the full 2gp price of the ticket.
Youka & Nina boarded the train normally for a day and half's ride, while Eavaan took to first class (8gp upgrade). Upon landing, Twig and Astara noted a billboard advertising the airship, with a mark for a brand - a dragonmark for the Lyrandar house... which matches exactly that on Nina's back.
Arriving a day early, the twins did a run of the town. Twig visited Ranger John and the druids of the area to talk. Ranger John, now middle aged, welcomed him with open arms and talked for hours about all the news and little things. Nina went around, seeing the changes in the town, which is now void of abandonned buildings. She visited the daycare next to the orphanage, opened by Yvette and Annabelle (though Annabelle is still at the orphanage), checked up on the orphanage. She also visited Anders (DM Note: I owe Astara a 1:1 spar match - forgot during break) who now works for rehab of those who served jail time for minor crime and helps them re-integrate society. A second chance place. Harissa is travelling on her own, but Nina found a letter left for Youka.
The twins and Maverick then welcomed the train travellers and pulled a prank, using disguise self to make a second Eavaan, which fooled Maverick some, but Astara none (nat 20 vs nat 1). They then had a heartfelt conversation with Nina, who explained that she is not a wood elf, but a high elf from the necromantic city of Aerenal, and that she had only lied to fit in. She was cast out when 6 years old. She is not 100% sure why, but thinks it could be her tinkering habits, and the mark on her back. The group agreed to look into it later.
The twins left for Sharn, to stay with their respective beloved. Twig to get rings ordered, and was invited to Quamara's graduation ball as her +1, which would be in 3 weeks. Astara went to see Ulendil perform in a C rank musical and then sorta gave him a ride as wolf, back home. Eavaan explored a bit of Stokedown, visiting the hospitals and nurses he had worked with as a kid, and found some nurses were now doctors. Checked on the guards and found a retired Armand, and Cheyenne received a promotion as the new Captain. A new mayor, Mayor Gameli Hargrove is now in position. He saw the fashion of the town which remains drab and practical, with lots of pockets and cargo pants, and found that Damaia had left for Aundair to study fashion. Nina did some metal shopping and then joined Kitahn at the forge. He was thrilled to see her and they talked and tinkered for a long time. Kitahn explained that he joining the guards part time, inspired by Nina's journey, and is also a potential source for the group to get +1 armors and weapons.
Nina and Eavaan then rejoined for a night of scotch drinking, and then went to partake in politics and fancy dinners with the new mayor, who apparently holds the group in high esteem as influencial members of Stokedown.
