Session 31: Matricide Report
General Summary
The group regathered, healing their wounds best they could before planning. The dwarves stepped out to see what came of the foreign group, while Yvan cast a Scying spell on them. Vengeance boiling in their mist, along with the fear of what could be done, the group came with a plan. Astara cast a sending to House Orien to close the teleportation circles, and Eavaan used the sending phone to contact the house of the city guards to send out the alarm. The city was placed in a state of alarm, and gates closed.
The group noted that the carriage was not heading direct for House Orien, but the Chalice Corner. Astara turning into a draft horse, Twig running on foot, they chased to the area, lagging behind a bit. On arrival, they found that the outside of the church was littered in bodies of guards, acolytes and servants of the Skullborn, while the priesthood had formed a barrier to protect the temple and those within. Instead, they broke the gate and escaped to a nearby field to fend off the guard, the debacle spilling in the recently build Trajandome.
The group joined the fight there. Though spent and with only 2 minions left, the lift put up a solid fight, mixing spells and paralyzing skills. Astara talked to Irena, even after the girl attacked her and broke her wildshape, and eventually, turned her. They found there that Irena was promised as a way to unite the lich houses with that of vampires, and was used as a feeding vessel, revealing bite marks all along her neck. Trajan and Eavaan each went down multiple times, but Tanantala and Elodie arriving to help, equipped with healing spells of their own, were able to help.
In the end, the lich used her amulet, a teleportation device and chased Astara and her betraying daughter to inside the rink's building, where she launched a massive blight spell, killing Astara out right. Irena having on her person, the scroll of raise dead they stole from the temple, (Astara had to roll above a 1 on a pure d20 luck die), chose to help the people wanting to save her and used it on Astara, condeming her father to remain dead. Trajan bursting in at that time was able to land powerful blows and ended the lich. Twig joining in, gifted with flight and decapited her, to ensure she wouldn't have some sort of return ability, or was feigning this death.
She was looted, Irena was arrested and the game, ended.
