Session 36: Deeper in the lab Report
General Summary
The game begins with combat, as the group gathers and arranges to defeat the magens through darkness, having them disappear one by one as they as defeated, causing no damage to anyone. Once done, Senra and Astara busied to copy the complex blackboard notes while the others descended further into the laboratory.
The machines in the room was somewhat complex, with the left holding a "Close" and "Flush" switches, and the right having an "Open" switch, all linked to a generator, which Nina could connect as the core of the power in the place. The generator at the moment, seems to be full. Scraps on the tables were collected, and an artificer all purpose tool was collected from the next room. The next place seemed like a room mostly meant to control the mechanical arms in the center room to build the suit to be retrieved. However, a brain in a vat drew attention.
Next door, was a lockeroom with nothing noteworthy, leading to stairs going down further. Below, was an experiment set of rooms, which the group drew the conclusion, was for experimenting on a mix of robotic-biological beings. Advanced prosthetic and others. The brains in the vats of this level though, even if humanoid, had odd black spots on them, which couldn't be identified. A main reception had a locked door that was left alone, and a ledger collected by Merta, while Trajan unlocked the only locked door, finding a special fancy office with, rather little to offer.
Eavaan and Merta investigated further, down a hall to locate a vast library and began to collect books by the ton, until Trajan interrupted. Him and Nina, mixing spymaster knowledge with expertise in mechanisms, uncovered a hidden door revealing an automaton behind it.
GAME BREAK
Returning to the game, the group cast a cone of silence to the room and sent Trajan to investigate. The automaton was cracked opened and inert, missing a part (later identified by Nina as a missing fuse) so it was off. Inside, was an exposed, ornate skull, seeming prehistorical of types, and a large chest. Loot within was grabbed, including 2 prophecy fragments.
The returned to the library, to look to the door on the other side, and found themselves in an orrary, displaying the 12 moons of Eberron. A number was on there: 05-1012. A piece to the top was misaligned, and Nina piecing together how the display works, cranked until she reached the alignment, seeing all 12 moons in a perfect line. Despite all the books in here, there was nothing in the past 100 years of history that indicated this happening in that time, nor what this means.
Further more, Trajan was afflicted with yet another vision in the room: A dark, centipede like shadow behind Eavaan, that suddenly tried to swallow the bard hole... and yet, a net of golden threads protected her.. with a gold strand leading to his own belly, one to Merta, one to Nina and 2 leading up. A dark strand was weaved in, looking inert, cut or ripped. 3 more, less shiny, more silver headed in many directions in the distances. The net was preventing something. The vision faded. Realing, Trajan decided to compile all the strange seer points together and stared in the new prophecy fragments, getting their lines in.
Leaving the orrary, they noted scrolls on pedestal in the library. Picking it up, it revealed yet another secret door. Behind this, was a natural tunnel leading to a heavily reinforced observation deck, overseeing a captive storm elemental (group identified through various insights and nature checks). This aspect of raw nature wants to be released, but there seems to be no reasoning with it. There is cause to believe that leaving it captive, will having it grow in power until it can break free, more angry and powerful. Theory of the group, is that it was used to power the whole complexe.
They returned to the main room, to finalize the decision to destroy the generator so that the elemental can no longer be exploited, and close the loop on their to do list in this place, before either releasing the being, or returning to Fairhaven to have them do this part. Decision, is pending.
