Session 38: Activating the warforged
General Summary
The group discuss on the train on how to handle things. There is the moral dilemma of the warforged' sentience and its civil rights. It could be that there is an ethical implication linked to the idea of slavery that the party attempts to avoid. It is decided they will talk to Antique. Further debates occur at the idea of reporting the lab to the Druids in the Eldeen Reaches, or the HQ at Fairhaven. There is no unanimous opinion on 'who to trust' and 'how much to divulge'.
Back home, there is a mix of shopping and visiting the HQ. There, Astara visits Yvan and Eavaan talks to Antique, who is rather apathetic towards a potential kin. Her emotions aren't very invested and she seems more goal oriented to the business of the Foundation. This seems to settle part I for the group. Wanting to also ensure this mecha-person doesn't have secret terrorist plans, they take it to the Trajandome to activate.
Once everyone is set into a safe place, they activate it. Ughtogh introduces itself as a scrappy type of work focused engineer, with sketchy morals and ethics. He explains that he was one of the inventors of technology meant to harness elementals and use their powers to advance transport, including how all trains and air ships are powered by an elemental set within. Nina, despite her advanced engineering knowledge, was not aware of the power core, but would be able to connect the dot and identify where on a train these are. This fact, distresses Merta greatly and she withdraws to deal with the information.
More discussion is had and the group finds out that the warforged simply wants to work on a contract, and advance things. His moral stoppers don't mesh with the group's notions of what is right and wrong, but seems to be controllable via work contract. Informations are shared and fearing saying too much, Astara rips his fuse out. They clear that they can't just remove a single memory, but would have to destroy all of them to not be remembered. There is debate on whether or not too much was even said.
Planning a coup, the group plans a lie with Trajan / Nina and Eavaan at the core. A failure than a success later, the warforge believes that Eavaan is a d'Cannith, helped with a minor illusioned dragonmark of Making (fabrication) by Astara. The warforged is then set with a 'contract' to work in Nina's workshop to document ALL his prior work. This was said to talk months, as he worked for a long while, including the connection of the rails through Cyre, which is now destroyed. The group will decide later what to do after.
Astara talks with Merta to ensure she isn't planning on leaving and they discuss the option to take the train less, until a solution is explored to deal with the 'harnessing of the elementals'. There is a rest, some shopping and after learning from Yvan that 2 bottles of liquid magic wine (blue wine) was gifted to them, the group agrees to a relaxed hang out day with the other adventuring groups.
