Session 45: Inspired Lair Report

General Summary

We start with a discussion in privacy, where the group goes over informations from the previous session, plus the results of the meeting (IC Chat) with King Bortan, Eavaan and Merta. The group informs them of a potential to meet at the lair, a lady by the name "Orana Jorasco", some level of in charge in the region. The group also decides that after this, they will need to replace the group sending stone. With a vote, the group opts to investigate this lair and then go to speak to Astara's family or return to the King (to be determined, according to investigation's outcome).   Trajan is able to share the lair's location to the group, as well as the knock code (3 knocks - pause - 1 knock) to open the secret door. He then remains distant and hidden as a lookout for the group, after informing them that a small group is gathering at the hideout.   The set goes to first, investigate the exterior, finding a wall to wall set of one story warehouses, with others in the back, leaving no room for a side or back door, only a front door, and hidden front door. The group debates a time on actions to take and infiltration techniques. Senra misty steps to the roof and Eavaan knocks, informing the spying person that they are late for this meeting. With good rolls, they open the door, revealing a rather standard looking warehouse interior, full of crates and barrels, and a human man in a cloak by the name of Rowan.   Rowan mentions the name isn't on the list, but a display of mind telepathy lets him know he's in the presence of what he believes to be an inspired. The rest is introduced as pledges: cult members serving in the hopes of being transformed into inspired. They all go in and the door closes behind them, after successful negotiations permits to Merta to take in Koji. Inside, other pledges are on break in the kitchenette and invites the new pledges to a poker game.   The warehouse seems to house a workshop, which Eavaan is shown to investigate the work, and sees that this is where creepy rugs, statues and paintings are made for this lair and others like it. A desk at the entrance shows a list of purchases, receptions and outbound orders, mostly of those made goods, but also, of mind shielding jewelry in very small quantities (just the one, really), while dragonshards seem to be the biggest import.   GAME BREAK   Astara, Merta and Nina get to meet Maal, Teesen and Nelf, the other pledges on break (2 more are in the workshop, making bags and paintings) by participating, loosing 3 silver at the card game, as a Nat 20 from the opposition makes Astara's bluff fail. At least at cards. Working with Merta, Astara is able to gather very little Khyber shard powder and random items from the crates on sight, but Sleight of Hand rolls tonight are not in favor of the players.   The pledges also talk about another on sight, an experimenter of sort by the name of Albert, who, according to Teesen, is nuts and probably a result of issues during Quorri implantation. Theories they were first hesitant to share.   Senra and Eavaan being mind linked, communicate as Senra spies from above, and Eavaan spies from below. Senra burns little holes in the roof to look down, spotting the head of white hair from someone moving back and forth, with flashes of light. Both hers and Eavaan's detect thoughts (through the wall, no direct sight) reveal a crazed mind fixated on explosions.   Senra moves up and finds an office, hearing scritches but moreso, muffled voice. Seeing nothing but a few goods, including a glowing sphere, on the top of what looks to be a dresser type furniture, she moves toward the voices and makes another tiny hole. There, she spots a meeting in progress, but a poor perception roll (Nat 1) makes it so they can't hear much. She does notice that the group looks a lot to the side. Relaying the information, Eavaan heads to the location and knocks on the door, pretending to come with crucial information and their identity, the person greeting them, Genovia, has them sit at the table, while she goes off to fetch Orana, who is on site, or so she says. There, the game concludes as Eavaan catches sight of the board the meeting is staring at, and the image is shared OOCly, detailed by mind link to Senra.
