Session 60: Where is the leak Report
General Summary
The last of the foes dispatched without too much trouble, the crew investigated the tunnels beneath Korth's castle. There, they found 2 locations needing repairs: One, leading to the sea, partially blocked by algea preventing a full flood, but squeazable by zombies and other to escape, and one leading from the pit of 10s of thousands of undead into the complex of the dungeon.
Mason tools in hand, helped by Mr. Lovitts, Trajan worked until his arms and back were sore (and would be so much more in the morning). A job well done, and after re-dismembering the overflowing Corporal Carmichael, the group returned to the king. At least after seeing what the crew deduced to be, a vampire's lunch, a homeless man escorted to the king's chamber.
[Mid Session Break]
A dance occurred, of parley, debates and reveals. It was laid baren on the table that the crew knew about the lord's vampirism, and though some had more reserves than others in dealing with the Vampire king, it was agreed that now was not the time to lay siege on a whole nation. Instead, they received payment as due (to be collected in Fairhaven as always) and then discussed with the king further, offering their service, seeing if more was needed. At first the king scoffed, explaining that magic users were in short supply in Karrnath, unable to even get a decent scribe (which Senra applied for immediately, volunteering to stay behind)... but then an offer was made: The king has a rival due to land in Khorvaire, another Vampire of his age and stature. Lord Voltaire among other names (coinciding with the name of Ireena's betrothed). He wants it dispatched without a connection to him.
Rewards were negotiated heavily, showing a simple and humble vault below the castle, of powerful items, but also laying on the table, the deeds to a fortress or a ship. But the crew aimed for "and" instead of "or", and with a DC of 30, they rolled a 30, earning themselves a double reward... should they succeed. And, as a group, a no questions asked favor from the king for the future.
Finally, Eavaan stayed behind a moment to successfully negotiate Taratai's release, which the king agreed to, letting go of the Kalashtar but with the warning to never return. One the founder of the race, was not keen on promising, but instead noted the threat.
The adventurers took a ship back (without Senra for now) and returned to Fairhaven.
