XVI: Year 3 begins
General Summary
The session began with a bit of exposition on how each is spending their classes on themselves, with rolls for their bits. Jolie confirmed taking an extra PE class.
During one of their core class: Beastiary - Demonology, they had a special event where as group, they all got to practice their interrogation skills. Each grouped picked a curtain behind which was a small bound creature of fiendish nature in some form or another. The group got Marcel the imp, busy reading a book. They had to extrapolate information given by the teacher before end of class, information said would give them a boost in class or handicap if failed, but the imp was threatened with punishment if they revealed the information.
There was much talk, each taking the helm in their turn, and the imp trying to read and trick them as well. Now the prison glyph ensured no true demon deal (selling one's soul) was possible, but other agreements proved possible. Talk proved futile initially and Flip, once on his turn, tried pain with a set of ice daggers. The trio had to be cautious but at some point, Jolie opted to push for a kill and resummon. They didn't get to that though as they instead keyed to the book it was reading, and threatened to spoil the ending, successfully obtaining the information. The creature was dismissed and before leaving the book, Flip stole the last page, a move cheered by the others.
They then talked and went about their own affairs, with Lilli and Jolie hitting the campus shop, and Flip headed to the newspaper office where he found Gwen, and got himself a job as a reporter, with the first task to find the local thief of maintenance tools, as per the new year's school paper article. He then roped the other two saying he got 'them' a job, that would pay 5sp (untrue) with intentions to give that salary from his own pocket. With failed insight, the trio then debated how to tackle this. Looking to the scene, they found repaired damages to the door, and then looked for the local groundskeeper. Spotting two, a woman (Deena) and a goblin, they opted to first talk to the gruff woman who let them in and explained that only knick knacks were taken. They found signs that rakes and nails and such were taken, but also a vase and painting from the other staff only areas, not just the tool shed. Nothing useful.
Lilli then went to talk to Kryx, the goblin on site working the rose bush (and cutting only the blooms off, thinking the thorns to be the pretty part). Kryz proved friendly but a bit different in these lands, with a culture that would prove to sometimes clash with the local level. Fond of meat and a bit tired of Troll meat, they accepted the promise of pastries from the trio and revealed much during discussion about themselves, including not understanding why kicking people in the shin as a punishment to not be acceptable. An advice to NOT cut the blooms later, they left, feeling empty handed a bit still.
The next core class happened, being PE with Hobgoblin professor Rackor, a hard ass there to ensure people take the adventuring business and physical fitness seriously. A test would happen, with an obstacle race, adventurer style. Teams of 3 vs teams of 3 (pick your team). The trio opted to compete against Dorm D, with Artemis, Corius and Gwen. The only rules: no maiming and no killing. Then it is between what you can, and what you can't do. Also, to avoid 'paying to win' with all the school's nepo-babies of the dragonmark houses, every team was given 2500cp per member to spend and no other items could be brought there. So the session ended with some talks with classmates, including Margo and Dusk, learning that Werem seem to have something against them, and shopping back at Tavick's Landing, in preparation of the upcoming race.
