Gnome (No-mm)
A constant hum of busy activity pervades the warrens and neighborhoods where gnomes form their close-knit communities. Louder sounds punctuate the hum: a crunch of grinding gears here, a minor explosion there, a yelp of surprise or triumph, and especially bursts of laughter. Gnomes take delight in life, enjoying every moment of invention, exploration, investigation, creation, and play, though they always keep it to their small tight-knit communities.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Gnomes stand a bit smaller than halflings, being around 3-4 feet tall. They are also thinner than most halflings and have long pointed ears like an elf. These two races are what gnomes are most often compared to, as not many people know what gnomes look or act like due to their un-obstructive nature in societies around Ebresia. Some even compare them to dwarves due to the fact that males tend to grow beards. Gnome hair can come in the regular colors of brown or blonde but also comes in more exotic colors like white, orange, dark red, or even green. Their skin normally comes in earthen colors like reddish tans, earthy browns, or even shades of grey.
Growth Rate & Stages
Gnomes are considered adults at the age of 40 and are considered elderly at the age of 420.
Ecology and Habitats
Gnomes tend to live in very small unobtrusive ethnic communities in human cities. They have also been known to live alone as forest hermits, or in small subterranean homes carved into the side of a hill.
Behaviour
Gnomes are an intelligent and innately curious race. Gnomes might lack the drive and ambition of other races, particularly humans, but their creativity gives them a strong ability for ingenuity. Most gnomes are content to live simple lives, acquiring knowledge merely as a hobby, but others explore lost ruins, delve deep into the heart of the world, and conduct dangerous research in their unquenchable thirst for knowledge, leading more than a few to an untimely demise. They are naturally witty and jovial, and also prefer to overcome obstacles through cunning innovation rather than the obvious way. It is this curiosity, along with their cunning and witty repartee, that make gnomes both entertaining friends and adept tinkerers/spellcasters.
Most gnomes love gems, particularly rubies, but they are not avaricious. The gnomes that most people encounter are content to raise goats, grow potatoes, and live a life of honest hard work. Some gnomes are also innately magically-inclined, often becoming powerful illusionists or tricksters.
Additional Information
