Myrkul, god of murder (Meer-cull)
Myrkul is a god of the dead, as opposed to the god of death, which is the province of Kelemvor. Myrkul has a cold, malignant intelligence, and speaks in a high whisper. He is depicted as being always alert, never sleeping, and never surprised. He is never shown losing his temper or being anything other than coldly amused when a mortal succeeded in avoiding his directives or chosen fate.
His influence in Ebresia is imposed through fear, and his worshippers are masters of making mortals terrified of him through words and deeds. At times, just to remain unpredictable, he or a worshipper can seem almost kind and caring. His cowled skull head is known in nightmares all over Ebresia, and he is the one deity that almost all human mortals can picture clearly. Myrkul and his worshippers take care that all mortals think of him often - he is even known to materialize beside open graves, scythe in hand, just to gaze around at gathering mourners for a few silent breaths before fading away, in order to remind everyone that he is waiting for them all. He is usually worshipped by killers of all kinds, though is detested by those who believe the only true god able to decide who lives and who dies is Kelemvor.
