Violet fungus
A violet fungus is a type of subterranean fungus that is known for its poisonous whip-like appendages. They often like in symbiosis with shriekers, who attract prey with their horrible screech.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Violet fungi are human-sized mushrooms that are supported by a mass of root-like feelers that allow them to move slowly to more favorable feeding spots (preferably near shriekers). They range in color from deep purple to dull gray, or they could be violet and covered in purple spots. They also contain four leafy tendrils. The length of these tendril branches varies depending upon the size of the specimen, with some of the smallest only having tendrils that were 1 foot in length. These tendrils are coated in a poison that has the ability to rot flesh on contact, which they use for both defense and to hasten the decomposition of their meals.
Behaviour
Violet fungi can sense nearby motion and flail their appendages at creatures nearby. They feed on decaying matter, often from the bodies of creatures that came too close and succumb to their poison.

Uses, Products & Exploitation
Shriker poison can be used in the creation of multiple necrotic-related magical items and potions. Specifically, it is most notably used in the potion of decomposition.
