This is celebrated in the colder regions part of the world. Its for people of age 8-10. They have a special journey with their pet Arctic Fox for a few days. They are given food for the foxes and water. They travel in groups of 3 or 4. This symbolizes that they are ready to explore on their own.   A lot of the kids enjoy it and gets them time to bond with their furry friends. The places they see is breathtaking and they love socializing with each other. There is a risk of wild animals but no kids have been harmed thanks to their furry friends ability to sense danger.

Participants

Arctic Fox and kids. Guards are stationed at important points and check on their progress and how well they are doing. A celebration is required and parents attend these as well as grandparents. Sometimes siblings attend but not always.

These celebrations are under protected areas. Food is served like sweets and bread. The foxes play together while the kids and parents have fun. This lasts for about an hour or so. The children like to talk about the places they've seen and other stuff. The grandparents tell them of when they were young it was different like there wasn't as much guards and how they had to watch out carefully for wild animals. They are given a day off of school depending on their parents.

Observance

This takes place each year during winter. This is the best time for foxes since they are most active during this time.

What a lovely celebration! :)   I like that as a reader, at the start I felt concern for the kids -- out on their own with only other kids and their fox companions for a few days? Sounds terrifying! But reading that the celebration takes place within a controlled area makes the whole thing sound a lot safer, in a way that doesn't make the kids feel like they're not doing something on their own.   What do the kids do when they need to sleep during the celebration? Do they pack winter tents along with them, or do they make it to a check-point where they can rest for the night?

They rest for the night at special spots. They can be recognized since they’re the only ones with 2 guards. I’m glad you enjoyed it

This celebration is so cool and nice but.... is this the same world as the Skaule dark mage barren landscape? I hope these kids are FAR away from that place, haha.

Yes it’s the same world. Skaule is located towards the southern end so the kids are safe. I wasn’t expecting the follow. Thanks!
