Space Messengers

Ships used for receiving and delivering news from other planets which is done every 4 days. It’s then sent back to the news stations to report on or to a special company that focuses only on off world news. The ships are also used to send people off planet whether for vacation or just wanting to interact with other life forms.

History

They were first invented during the Industrial Revolution. It had a lot of funding but people thought it wasn’t going to work out. The thought of going to space was seen as infeasible during the time. The technology wasn’t there yet.
It took over 20 years for the vehicle to come to life. Figuring out how to make it withstand the pressure of space and the technicalities of the entire thing was difficult. They did their first public launch in 2611 and aimed to land on the closet planet and head back after it had landed. The test was mainly successful and gained the attention of millions of the people. The ships hull had parts where it had collapsed in on itself but those were very small but other than that the trip was great. There were lots of improvements made to the vehicles before the first major launch.

Purpose

The ships were originally used to send people to other planets for a few days but slowly became a vehicle to get news from other planets which is gathered from local species. Depending on which world the ships decide to land on they might get news or outright hostility. They know which planets to avoid after a couple visits. They can occasionally run into a conflict between their own military and the local population which can be risky. If it does happen then they tend to be more stealthy by trying to avoid any military officers from the locals or their own.

Schedule

The Messengers are given the planet they are assigned to and given time to prepare before going on the corresponding ships. The travel time can take up to 8 hours and take a rest before starting their job. The stay for a day or so and head back. Some people decide to stay a bit longer if it’s their first time on a planet or just want a nice vacation off world. The information is then collected and given to new companies for them report on said information. The process is repeated every 3 days.
There are other options like using automated methods or using people that are well acquainted and friendly with the local population on those undesirable planets.
