Burgomaster

Burgomaster is the official title of the rulers of each village or city within Barovia. Similar to a mayor or chief magistrate, Burgomasters are powerful families put in power during the early years of a village. The title is typically passed down generation to generation, and typically goes to the male heir. Burgomasters are responsible for administrating laws, upholding the peace and quality of life within the city, and act as the exertion of the absolute authority of whoever rules the country.
