First Ecothnic War
There is no official begining to the First Ecothnic war as various groups began opposing The Dynasty before open conflict broke out. Around the year -4130 various resistance groups bounded together to form The Dundell, with the common goal to overthrow the Dynasty. They had been inspired to take action by various atrocities commited by the Dynasty recent decades such as the Capswold Massacure in -4135 and their eariler conquests of newly independent states after the Summer of Revolt.
Early Stages
The Dundell was forced to start by making strikes on small military outposts where they would steal weapons and supplies from before a lager Dynasty force would come to retake the position. They hyjacked trade routes and supply lines to build up their resources, even allying with corrupt or rebellious Dynal lords and the rulers. They would frequently hide in kingdoms that were newly independent after The Summer of Revolt or in states with semi-independent status graunted by the Dynasty.
After a series of sucsesful strikes from the Dundell, several Dynal generals from Traiphotia were able to convince the Emperor to send a detachment of soldiers to actively hunt the Dundell to prevent it growing in size. This proved to be difficult for the Dynasty though as the Dundell had become experts at covering their tracks and were constantly on the move.
The Dundell Grows
More confident now The Dynasty could not find them, The Dundell began to more publicly denounce the Dynasty. Members began to perform speeches in towns and villages and were often caputred but still inspired many more people to join the Dundell movement. The Dynasty decided to try and scare its population in responce and many of the Dundell's speakers were tortured and executed, but this only made them martyrs to the cause.
The Dynasty became more and more paranoid of the Dundell. They began putting loyalty schemes in place to secure their influance and stationed more soldiers in rural towns and villages. The Dynasty also launched many propaganda campains to try and move public oppinion back towards them but these mostly were unsucsesful or were savotaged by members of the Dundell.
The Dundell also started attacking higher profile targets, one of the largest being the attack on Notras Castle where a force of over 200 armed men assulted the fortress. They were unsucsesful but did significant damage and killed almost twice their number. This was a major turning point in the conflict as the Dundell were becoming more bold with their actions and attacking larger targets.
Defeat of the Dynasty
By the last decade of the 65 year conflict The Dundell still used very little open conflict. It stayed in the shadows striking only when it saw an opperunity. This is why it came as such a surprise when around 340 men stormed the Dynal palace in Capswold -4046. Caught off guard the soldiers stationed there were quickly slaughtered and Dundell forces made it into the centeral chamber. In the following slaughter the Dynal Emperor was killed. The Dundell quickly took hold of their victory, growing in number in the capital, but were eventually forced out.
With the death of the Emperor the remaining Dynal teritories fell into revolt with a massive wave of independence and a call for an end to Dynal rule. The heir to the throne, Yanavous, was killed on the road to Capswold, ending the direct bloodline of the Dynal emperors. By -4021 the Dundell had secured control over Capswold and much of the centeral Dynal teritory with most of the emperor's lineage either killed forced to denounce their heritage.
Eventually, in -4011, a distant relative of the dead emperor called Rezide called an official surender of the Dynasty, officially ending the conflict. Rezide went into exile in the Great Northern Mountains where he and his followers were presumed to have slowly frozen to death.
Aftermath
Although the First Ecothnic war had consited of little open combat, it resulted in a major shift in power which effected Ecoth on a scale that had never occured before. It ended hundreds of years of Dynal rule over some areas and for the region of Dynallia, it was the first time since -5200 they had not been under Dynal rule.
The Dundell tried to establish a continetal democratic government to stand in the place of The Dynasty so there wasn't a complete break down in the structure of Ecothnic trade and communication howver it is commonly seen as a failed venture.
Fifty years later Rezide's Dynasty returned and the Dundell was dispanded, which only furthered the chaos of the last century.
