Headmaster Noëlle Poulin

The University of Magical Improvement may have started as a simple library at the turn of the millennia, but that didn't stop Noëlle Poulin from doing her utmost best to turn it into an educational institution when she saw the good her collection could do. As Paris was still large, but nowhere near the model of modernity it is in the modern-day, she had a lot of work to do, but a lot of students to teach as well, in the ways of Wizardry and Magical Control.

Personal history

Noëlle Poulin never wanted for anything in her childhood. She was blessed enough to have a well-off family, a safe neighborhood in Paris, and loving parents, even if she wished her father would be away on adventures less. But even that was never poor because he would always bring back the most wonderful of books from his travels.   But, when Noëlle was around 14, she had noticed that many children, in fact, most of the children of Paris, didn't have the same access to books that she did, and found that a dreadful thing. She had decided that it would better the community if her family turned their personal collection into a public library. While there was some reservation at first, she worked hard to convince them, pulling from a family experience from a vacation in Avalon as the greatest evidence.   Thus the Poulin library was made, and when she turned 18, Noëlle turned from frequent visitor to curator and owner of the library, ensuring that the books were modern, intellectual, and available.   It wouldn't be long until the era changed, and the time of disparate kingdoms came to an end, the Era of Countries began. With this, there was something else that Noëlle noticed. For all of Paris' opportunities and population, they had no way to learn Magic.   This was very odd, as the largest cities around Edda had at least some Magical institution for Wizards, occasionally for Bards as well. This, she decided, would not do.   Scouring through her collection, she found several magical textbooks as well and began to teach herself the act of Wizardry. The rumors of this soon caught the attention of accomplished Wizards from the city, as well as the surrounding area, who agreed that Paris should have a magical institution of their own.   They would come to offer to teach Noëlle and work to begin the institution, but if there's one thing she was, it was stubborn. She wished to establish a learning school not just for the nobility who have the aptitude, or those who a circle of mages deemed fit, but for anyone and everyone who had the gift of Arcanism and stood her ground to work towards this goal.   A mere 9 years into the new era, her stubbornness paid off, as she had begun to teach Wizardry to the surrounding population, and soon hired on teachers who agreed with her vision to further the goal of equal-class magical opportunities.   Originally just teaching out of her library, over the years, she would eventually grow to purchase a school building, to hiring more teaching staff, to getting better materials to accommodate more kinds of magic and casting.   By the time she passed at the age of 93 and passed on the duties to her daughter, who had practically been raised alongside the school, the University had grown to three buildings, over 100 teachers, thousands of students, and teaching Sorcerer magic along with Wizardry.

Education

While Noëlle was self-taught, she had a great wealth of educational books and family friends to bestow knowledge upon her, giving her a college-level education by the time she was a young adult.

Employment

Although most of her life was spent in self-employment at her leisure, she never half-did her tasks, and took them as seriously as a hired worker, giving her a wealth of skills throughout her life.

Intellectual Characteristics

Noëlle Poulin was a deeply curious individual, often throwing herself into books and tomes before even considering having conversations with others. But, when she did converse with others, if there was something she didn't understand, she'd spiral into a flurry of questions and examinations to learn as much as she can, intimidating many people.
