King/Queen (Elemental)

In the primordial realm that is The Elemental Plane civilization has popped up from where it wasn't expected to time and time again. With the rise of these Planar Genasi came the rise of their own power structures, and eventually Kingdoms. At the top of this totem pole are the rulers of the elemental realm. They have many names within their own culture, but in their rare dealings with the Material Realm, they are referred to as Kings, Queens, or Lieges. While there is a genealogical right to rulership, the coronation of a new ruler is confirmed by high-priests of the religious figures of Elemental life, The Elemental Progenitors.

Qualifications

To be fully crowned as a ruler, you must have some connection to the royal line within the eyes of the public, but especially one must be sanctified in the eyes of the progenitors, and if none of the direct royal lines is eligible in their eyes, a kingdom-wide quest will begin.

Appointment

When a candidate for the rule is found by the faithful of the Progenitors, there shall be a 3-day ritual period to anoint and purify that person, making them ideal for the position. Afterward, the royal ceremony will be held, and a grand feast will be had.

Duties

The rulers of the realms are responsible for the wellbeing and maintenance of the land as one would expect a ruler to do. What's special about the rulers duties in the Elemental Plane is that they are also responsible for maintaining the leyline structure and power of their realms, lest they fall to other kingdoms or outward threats.

Accoutrements & Equipment

Each ruler has access to a specialized magical artifact called The Heart of the Progenitors, which is what gives them total elemental control over their area and the energy that flows through it.
