Progenitors Dragoon
"When the land of primordial elements quakes, four Divine Knights, carrying the will and strength of the Progenitors, shall rise to lead all nations to victory and survival. One shall carry the divine Standard, to inspire and fortify the hearts of all. While there are many powerful knights and soldiers amidst the armies of The Four Elemental Kingdoms, the greatest among them is The Dragoons, divine champions chosen by the titanic Progenitors. Gifted with divine strength, empowered armor, and weapons, and the noble goal of protecting all elemental life, they are the first attack and the last defense against any threats that threaten the innocent people of the realm. Even in times of conflict, where Dragoons would go head-to-head against each other on behalf of their home country, whenever a threat endangered all people of the Elemental Plane, they have risen to fight together, and that innate camaraderie extends to the modern, mostly peaceful, day. There even exists a prophecy that says the four Dragoons will come to defend not just their own realm, but all realms of existence from a threat beyond the stars.
One shall carry the divine Scepter, summoning all faith and magic to their whim.
One shall carry the divine Shield, protecting all that is fair and just throughout all the realms.
And one shall carry the divine Spear, piercing all that would seek to desecrate the Progenitors realm.
From each nation shall one rise, and from each Progenitor shall one be empowered, enhanced by divine artifacts and proven by divine trials, and they shall be known as The Divine Knights, Dragoon's."
Qualifications
There are no strict qualities that make one a Dragoon, other than that the Progenitors choose them as their champion. There have even been Dragoons in the past who weren't a part of divine order, the knights, or even particularly devout, and yet had the ideals and qualities of the heroic soul that most Dragoons tend to have.
Requirements
Each of the four Progenitors: Typhon/Leviatan, Hecatoncheires/Behemoth, Ouranos/Ziz, and Phoenix/Ifrit, choose one person at a time to be their Dragoon. While it is typically a member of their respective kingdom, this is actually not a hard rule, and in fact, there have been a handful of Dragoons for Progenitors not of the same element. Their only requirement is that they are chosen, at least from the deities perspective.
Appointment
Typically a Dragoon is known to be chosen after pieces of their divine armaments begin to disappear, and appear in the possession of the chosen individual. Once this begins, a search is put out for the owner of the items, and once they are found a series of trials is put forth to prove their legitimate abilities.
The chosen Dragoon will be able to use the full power of the armaments, typically great feats of strength, divine power, and combat ability, to prove that they are truly infused with the will of the Progenitors. Even if they shouldn't technically pass the trials, they should be able to at least show the capability of their strength, and the trials are not designed to be fatal.
Duties
The Dragoon is a special rank within the knights of the four kingdoms, and while they do not have as much direct control as a General, their presence is a necessity for morale, and often times they will have their own special squadrons of uniquely talented individuals, known as The Dragoon's Scales.
Of course, in times of great peril and danger, they are also necessary to use the power of the Progenitor and the element behind them to face the threats, be they physical or environmental.
Responsibilities
The Dragoons are called upon to defend the people of The Elemental Plane and all of its kingdoms. By wielding the power of the Progenitors, they are the physical side of the Heart of the Progenitors that empowers the land and their kingdoms.
Many Dragoons, especially as the kingdoms have become more established and civil with each other, have civil duties as well, much like any member of the knights, along with commemorating and consecrating various religious ceremonies, as the most direct hand of the gods.
Benefits
As a divine champion, the Dragoons enjoy no end of public status, as well as getting an official position in the military, and being offered the same benefits as a General. They are also typically prized members of the kingdom's courts as well, as a noble and powerful Dragoon is a sign of an effective society to many.
Accoutrements & Equipment
Each Dragoon has a set of Divine Armaments, consisting of Greaves, Gauntlets, Helm, and Chestpiece, which have their various abilities embodying the power of the Progenitor that has chosen them. Then, there are the Divine Weapons, listed in the prophecy. No one weapon is guaranteed to one Dragoon, and while a Dragoon will only wield one in their time, all four are available.
The Divine Standard is a battle flag that, when raised and rallied behind, eases the worry and fear of any ally that can see it, as well as recovering any wounds less than fatal, and even provides magical defenses when used properly. However, the user must be willing to be at the head of the battle, in the greatest danger, and cannot use the Standard's power for themself.
The Divine Scepter is a magical staff that acts like a magic focus with no equal. The user can mold the mana behind nature, the arcane, or faith in any way they desire, limited only by their imagination and the mana available to them, going even beyond the spells known to the Akashic Records. However, they are still only able to use as much magic as their own body can handle,
The Divine Shield is just that, a Shield that is not only strong enough to be wielded as a weapon but can also protect and generate unbreakable defenses wide enough to span dozens of miles, or as minuscule as to cover one's internal organs. While these shields can only stay up as long as the wielder can keep it powered, they cannot be broken by anything but a single source.
The Divine Spear is a powerful lance and is blessed with the ability to pierce through anything with its attacks, even the absolute defense of the Divine Shield, and leaves wounds that cannot be healed. It is occasionally known as The Spear of Transgression, as its greatest abilities go against the Divine Shield and Spear. However, as the most offensively powerful of the Divine Weapons, it does not bestow the Dragoon with any additional defenses.
Grounds for Removal/Dismissal
Dragoons are typically only dismissed upon death. However, there has been a case spoken of in the ancient past where one turned against the Progenitors, and was stripped of the role.
