Changelings

A rush in the dark, a flash of claw and teeth, and suddenly the shapely lips from upon the bard's best feature are stolen. Their supple curves now gracing the grotesque face of a pale creature that came out of nowhere.   A Caiten warrior bares his fangs at the assembled beings, their bony limbs advancing with sharp claws. He does his best to defend himself, but one of the dastards escapes with his best eye. If not found soon, it'll be gone for good.   A wandering wizard stumbles into a dark hovel on the edge of a fallen castle, a warm place to sleep for the night. He awakes to find faces surrounding him in the shadows, not all of them composed from the same people.
Changelings (Also known as Dopple-fangs, or Uncle Tims) are a magically produced race of monstrous beings. They prey upon the facial features of humanoid creatures, stealing them like thieves in the night. If they are successful, and evade death for the span of an hour, then the feature becomes theirs permanently and is lost from their victim.   They might be found in old ruins, dark wizard's lairs, or arcane laboratories. They are often the product of malicious spell-craft, or misguided experimentation. Young colonies will be entirely featureless, appearing as a bony, underfed humanoid with a featureless torso and face. Older colonies, successful ones, will often show an assorted collection of eyes, teeth and noses. If it weren't for the implication of losing such items, it might be humorous to see your beard on another creature. However, when you find that you can no longer grow beards, you might take umbrage.

Anatomy

Roughly humanoid, bearing two arms and two legs. The arms end in spindly hands that bear tipped fingers for gouging. Their skin is stretched tight over muscle-less bones and is as pale as the moon. Their faces maintain only a mouth with a row of sharp pointed teeth, and bear no other features naturally.
