Gyndrin
Known as the “Short City” by those far enough away from it, Gyndrin is home to the great warlords of the Halflings.
The city is currently under control of the Greatfoot Clan, a dynasty that has ruled in relative peace for many years.
The current King Jerich Greatfoot rules alongside his wife Gerth. Together they have ushered in a great age for Halflings, defending the coast and bridges of their massive island from all manner of invaders, bandits and pirates.
Jeric and Gerth have 5 children:
- Joveta Greatfoot, the oldest, a girl of surpassing beauty and wit and a fondness for adventure.
- Gerth Greatfoot Jr, the next in line, a girl of less than surpassing beauty, but more than surpassing strength. She currently commands the northern bridge patrol.
- Tefigin Greatfoot, a male halfling with a sharp intelligence, but not much awareness for the world around, he serves in an honorary position at the head of the Royal Library.
- Reta Greatfoot, a young girl who wishes to study in the College of Illusion at Barkfoot Memorial University, she is regarded as ‘too young’ but constantly tries to prove others wrong.
- Burt Greatfoot, a newly born babe with a ‘grip as strong as the Zinn’s own hand’ as his father lovingly says.
Demographics
Mostly halflings, but about a tenth of the population is a mix of other races.
Government
Led by a King, this country is a typical monarchy. There are a series of nobles that provide administrative roles to the surrounding towns and settlements, as well as some that perform roles in the city itself.
Defences
Gyndrin is guarded by a fierce patrol of Halflings called the King's Sickle. A proud group of warriors that patrol the city as well as the surrounding countryside.
Industry & Trade
Gyndrin offers many agricultural goods as exports. The city is surrounded by fields of various crops, many of which are owned by the crown.
Infrastructure
The halflings specialize in paved roads. Their streets are so well bricked and drained that the Greatfoot clan is sometimes jokingly (and affectionately) called the Cleanfoots, for how much they've improved the city's standard of living with the roads alone.
Architecture
The buildings are largely built for Halflings, with shorter entryways and ceilings. This provides a barrier to entry for a lot of travelers, and as such many enterprising halflings have built an entire quarter of the city with larger buildings designed to sell to non-members of their race.
Geography
Located in the near center of a grassy island that is seemingly carved from the earth it borders, Gyndrin is landlocked, though as a state it controls the whole island and the massive bridges built on either end.
Natural Resources
Fertile grasslands provide ample area to start farms, grow crops and raise livestock.
